Serious crash shuts down Rt. 96 in Waterloo on Saturday: One person airlifted

State Route 96 was shut down for a period of time on Saturday during the afternoon hours, as crews worked a serious two car accident near the intersection of Whiskey Hill Road.


Border City and Waterloo fire departments were called to the crash, along with North Seneca, Finger Lakes, and Phelps ambulance companies.

There were reportedly two people with serious injuries. At least one of them was airlifted to an area hospital by LifeNet.

Details of injuries could not be confirmed as of Sunday morning. The road was reopened a little less than two hours after the crash was first reported.
