Mets drop series opener to Angels as offense struggles

The New York Mets (59-70) dropped the series opener (62-67) to the Los Angeles Angels, 3-1, on Friday night at Citi Field.

Francisco Lindor drove in New York’s only run in the third inning with his 24th home run of the season. Aside from that, the Mets had just three hits and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Kodai Senga tossed six innings of two-run ball while striking out 10, two shy of his season high.

The Mets will try to bounce back and even the series on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. Carlos Carrasco will take the ball.
