Mistreatment allegations prompt investigations at TC3 daycare center

Following allegations of child mistreatment at Tompkins Cortland Community College’s (TC3) on-campus daycare center, investigations have been launched by both the college and the State Office of Children and Family Services.

Documents obtained by CNYCentral reveal two validated complaints: one concerning a teacher not adhering to mandatory reporting processes and another involving a teacher who “possibly closed their eyes during naptime.”

Both staff members have been temporarily relieved from childcare duties pending further investigations by TC3’s human resources.

Additionally, records from the Office of Children and Family Services list three unresolved violations related to staff conduct and failure to notify parents of a “serious incident” involving their child.

In a contradictory move, the daycare center’s director informed parents that the allegations were baseless and the inquiries had concluded. However, that claim was retracted two days later, admitting to providing “premature information.”
