Ahead of the New York State Fair, the New York State Department of Transportation has issued a notice for drivers traveling near the fairgrounds.
The speed limit on I-690 and NY-695 will temporarily drop from the usual 65 miles per hour to 55 miles per hour. This change takes effect from Monday, August 21 and will last through Wednesday, September 6.
Officials are urging motorists to exercise caution, especially within work zones, and to heed all posted signage. Notably, fines for speeding in these zones will be doubled, and receiving two or more tickets could result in a suspension of driving privileges.
