The New York Mets (58-67) had their four-game win streak snapped Sunday afternoon with a 7-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals (55-70) at Busch Stadium.
New York led 2-1 after four innings, but the pitching fell apart, and the Mets struggled to generate more offense against the Cardinals bullpen.
Pete Alonso smacked his 39th home run of the season while Jonathan Araúz plated a run with a single. The other run scored on a throwing error.
Carlos Carrasco lasted just four innings, giving up three runs on nine hits. Trevor Gott gave up all four runs in relief.
The Mets will head to Atlanta to begin a three-game series with the Braves Monday at 7:20 p.m.
