The New York Mets (56-66) opened a four-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals (54-68) Thursday night at Busch Stadium and picked up a 4-2 victory.
Jose Quintana secured his first win as a member of the Mets after tossing six innings of two-run ball. The left-hander allowed just three hits and struck out five while walking four.
Pete Alonso crushed his 37th home run of the season, a two-run shot, to open the scoring. Francisco Lindor extended the lead with an RBI double before Tim Locastro belted his first homer of the season.
The Mets and Cardinals will continue this series on Friday at 8:15 p.m. New York has not announced a starting pitcher yet.
