Three men allegedly involved in a scam that conned an elderly Cayuga County couple out of over $24,000 now face a tentative trial date of December 11.
The Citizen reports that Joel F. Mathilda, 24, of the Bronx, Davide Invidia Arias, 24, of Orlando, Florida, and Jose A. Fermin Vasquez, 28, of Newark, New Jersey, were all scheduled for a conference in front of Judge Jon Budelmann.
All three have been indicted on third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony, and fifth-degree conspiracy, a misdemeanor.
The scam reportedly involved the elderly couple receiving phone calls from someone impersonating their grandson, claiming he was in jail and required bail money after a car accident.
