Senator Pam Helming has announced the allocation of state funds to multiple local libraries under the Public Library Construction Aid Program.
Among the beneficiaries are Avon Free Library receiving $371,567 and Caledonia Library Association with $456,583, both in Livingston County. Others include Newman Riga Free Library in Monroe County awarded $14,496, and three libraries in Ontario County: Geneva Public Library ($11,385), OWWL Library System ($21,532), and Wood Library Association ($21,727). Wayne County’s Newark Public Library has been granted $48,645.
Highlighting the continued importance of libraries even in today’s digital landscape, Senator Helming remarked, “Libraries remain a haven for community learning, connection, exploration, and aspiration.” The senator’s advocacy for libraries was evident when she co-sponsored a 2021 law, which expanded funding access for smaller and rural libraries via the Library Construction Aid Program.
