Tourism is strong in Cayuga County. And because of that, economic development leaders are exploring how to create more accommodations for visitors.
Karen Kuhl, executive director of the Cayuga County Office of Tourism, told The Citizen that the pandemic highlighted Cayuga as a safe and attractive destination. Responding to the growing demand for more accommodation, the county’s tourism office recently initiated a study to determine potential sites for a new hotel.
REVPAR International, a renowned hospitality consultancy, shortlisted five locations, with three close to Emerson Park and Owasco Lake, including two county-owned properties, according to reporting by The Citizen.
The White Bridge Road location, one of the county-owned sites, received the highest score from REVPAR and has been selected for a detailed feasibility analysis, expected to complete in the coming month.
