Herman Brothers continues selling down stock in Lyons as closure looms

A cornerstone of Wayne County, Herman Brothers, will be closing its doors after almost eight decades in business.

Established in 1945 by Dewey and Walter Herman, the family-run store began as a modest service and repair venture, eventually expanding into one of the area’s foremost furniture and appliance dealers.

Current proprietor, Gene Herman, who began his tenure at the age of 14 and is now 70, attributes the store’s enduring success to a consistent dedication to customer service.

The absence of a succeeding generation eager to helm the business has led the Herman family to begin liquidating their vast 30,000-square-foot space.

The Herman Brothers store, located at 23 Geneva Street, will continue operating as they gradually sell off their remaining stock.
