The Amish community in Wayne County is set to hold a special auction filled with farm equipment, antique kitchen tools, handcrafted quilts, and even livestock on Saturday, August 19.
It seeks to support Gideon and Malinda Miller of Lyons.
Gideon, who had previously lost a leg in an accident and subsequently got a prosthetic, is now faced with the challenge of replacing it due to an infection.
The tight-knit community and well-wishers have generously donated an array of unique items, ranging from antique kitchen gadgets to modern tools.
Highlights include two 23-week-old steer calves, Maytag wringer washer, battery-powered hoist lift, and even a donation of 1,000 bales of hay.
Attendees can also relish a homemade meal, complete with breakfast offerings from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and a full-course dinner at noon, lovingly prepared by Amish women of the community.
The public event, promising raffles and a family-friendly atmosphere, kicks off its bidding at 9 a.m.. Those wishing to make a monetary contribution can do so through the Amish Medical Funds at LNB Bank.
