The City of Canandaigua has finalized a new 27-month electricity supply contract set to benefit residents and small businesses by ensuring a fixed rate and bolstering access to renewable energy.
The Finger Lakes Times reports that the agreement, which takes effect on Sept. 1, marks the city’s second collaboration with Gateway Community Power since 2021 and will be managed by Joule Community Power.
Constellation NewEnergy Inc. has been named the primary electricity supplier, while Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E) retains its role in handling delivery, repairs, and billing.
Eligible customers, who received notifications in July, will be automatically enrolled in the program, though they have the option to opt out and continue with RG&E’s services.
