A collision between a vehicle and a buggy in the Town of Milo on Friday afternoon resulted in the death of a horse.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on August 11 when Alma Riehl, 59, of Himrod, tried to overtake a horse and buggy on Himrod Road.
As she did so, the buggy’s operator, Lois Shirk, 20, of Penn Yan, attempted a left turn without signaling, leading to the crash.
The impact caused Riehl’s vehicle to hit the horse and subsequently collide with a utility pole. While Riehl received medical attention at the scene and was later released, Shirk and her young male passenger remained unharmed.
Unfortunately, due to the severity of its injuries, the horse had to be euthanized at the crash site.
