FDA issues warning on Universal Meditech Pregnancy and UTI tests: Urges consumers to retest

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning against using pregnancy, UTI, and ovulation tests produced by Universal Meditech, Inc.

The agency stated on Friday (August 11) that the company has ceased all operations and no longer provides support for its testing products. Due to this, the FDA expressed concerns about the safety and efficacy of the tests as it couldn’t verify their performance.

Universal Meditech initiated a recall for unsold items but did not recall products already in the hands of consumers. These tests, distributed online through AC&C Distribution, LLC., HealthyWiser, Home Health US Inc., and Prestige Biotech Inc., include a variety of brands and types. Consumers are strongly encouraged to dispose of these tests and seek retesting with alternative brands.
