State police say a report in Cayuga County ended in a result in the Rochester-area along State Route 104.
On August 8 around 6:20 p.m. the Cayuga County Emergency Dispatch Center received information relative to an unauthorized use of a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban with a handgun in the vehicle.
That information was broadcast to area law enforcement patrols.
A little more than an hour later, around 7:35 p.m., officers with the Rochester Police Department initiated a traffic stop which turned into a pursuit onto State Route 104 in the city.
State police assisted with the pursuit, but ultimately lost sight of the vehicle on Lake Road in the town of Webster, near the Wayne-Monroe county line.
State police out of Williamson located the vehicle prior to it crashing on Furnace and Lake roads in the town of Ontario. Before being taken into custody, the suspect, identified as Jacob Gonyeau, 25, of Wolcott, fled on foot.
He was ultimately charged with second-degree criminal posession of a weapon, unauthorized use of a vehicle, unlawful fleeing, reckless driving, DWI, leaving the scene of an accident, and several other infractions.
He was taken to the Wayne County Jail for arraignment.
