The Seneca Falls Town Board approved a bond of $17.7 million for major upgrades to the town’s water treatment plant and distribution system on August 1, with a vote of 4-1.
The Board also plans to apply for a $5 million state Water Infrastructure Improvement Act grant and is seeking a 0% loan from the state Environmental Facilities Corp., according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The remaining project costs will be covered by the town’s reserve funds.
The water treatment plant, located on Parker Road in Fayette, was built in 1940, and the primarily village-based distribution system is over a century old.
