A tragic accident involving two Harley Davidson motorcycles and a Subaru Forester left one man dead and two others injured on Thursday, August 3, in Tompkins County.
The New York State Police confirmed that 26-year-old Wesley V. Demming of Newfield died at the scene of the crash on Millard Hill Road. While traveling westbound about one mile east of Short Lane, Demming reportedly crossed into the opposite lane after cresting a knoll and collided with the car driven by 19-year-old Scott Watkins. Following the initial impact, Demming’s motorcycle subsequently collided with the other motorcycle ridden by 30-year-old Louis R. Loiselle.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but their life-saving measures were unsuccessful in saving Demming. Loiselle, who suffered injuries, was transported to Cayuga Medical Center before being airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital for further treatment. Watkins was taken to Cayuga Medical Center to be treated for head injuries. The incident underscores the critical importance of road awareness and safety for motorcyclists and drivers alike.
