Wayne County woman arrested for welfare fraud, grand larceny after $5,787 theft

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, working in conjunction with the Wayne County Department of Social Services, announced the arrest of Gabriella Fioravanti, 22, of of Newark, on charges of welfare fraud, grand larceny, and offering a false instrument for filing.


The charges, all felonies, were a result of an investigation into a fraud complaint.

Fioravanti, a recipient of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), allegedly failed to report income from another individual residing at her residence, leading to her fraudulent receipt of $5,787 in benefits to which she was not entitled.

Following her arrest, she was transported to the Wayne County Jail to await CAP arraignment.
