On Thursday, August 3, at 2:22 p.m., the Community Bank plaza branch in Clifton Springs was robbed by a man who entered the bank and passed a note demanding money.
Bank employees quickly activated a hold-up alarm and provided a detailed description of the suspect, who fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. A sheriff’s deputy arrived at the scene within one minute of being dispatched, and the search for the suspect began immediately.
Assisted by the New York State Police (NYSP), deputies and investigators canvassed local businesses for surveillance footage and searched on foot for the suspect. Information was developed indicating that the suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Brandon A. Gray of Clifton Springs, was possibly inside a residence on E. Main Street in the village.
Gray was located in the identified residence and was taken into custody without incident at 4:39 PM. He has been charged with third-degree robbery.
The prompt response by law enforcement and cooperation from bank personnel and local businesses aided in the swift apprehension of the suspect.
