Goodwill of the Finger Lakes to host first-ever block party for back-to-school giveaway

Goodwill of the Finger Lakes is preparing to host its inaugural Block Party on Saturday, August 26, from 10 am to 2 pm at 500 South Clinton Ave. The event, free to the public, will allow local residents to explore Goodwill’s community programs, including 211/LIFE LINE, 988, Goodwill Vision Enterprises, and the Good Neighbor Program. Attractions will include an arts and crafts station, games, food trucks, live entertainment, on-site vision screenings for children, free ice cream, and a back-to-school supplies giveaway.

Goodwill is calling on local community members and businesses to support the Good Neighbor school supplies drive to ease the financial strain on families during back-to-school season. The organization will provide a backpack filled with donated school supplies to the first 250 children in attendance. Donations, which can include items such as pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, binders, hand sanitizer, and more, can be dropped off at Goodwill’s headquarters at 422 S. Clinton Ave before August 14. Those interested in contributing or seeking more information can contact Goodwill’s Community Engagement Coordinator, Swellar Zhuo, at [email protected].
