Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Tuesday that millions of New Yorkers will see reductions in their utility bills thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act.
The funding from this federal legislation will be utilized to support New York’s nuclear power plants, which will in turn deliver zero emissions electricity to the state’s residents. The federal nuclear production tax credit, part of the Inflation Reduction Act, will provide financial backing to the operating nuclear reactors in New York.
Governor Hochul emphasized the importance of the Act not only in reducing utility costs for New Yorkers but also in helping the state confront climate change by reducing emissions. “We appreciate the strong partnership with President Biden, his Administration and New York’s Democratic Congressional Delegation to advance a more affordable and more livable New York through energy affordability and zero emissions electricity,” she said.
