Despite the threat of a significant nurses’ strike at Rochester General Hospital (RGH) over working conditions, hospital administrators assure that care will not be negatively impacted.
On its website, Rochester Regional Health, the organization overseeing RGH, pledged to maintain operations, stating, “RGH remains fully operational, and we are committed to serving you with minimal disruption. All procedures, tests, and exams are proceeding as scheduled.”
However, several nurses expressed doubts about the hospital’s preparedness, citing longstanding safety concerns. Some spoke with RochesterFirst.com about their expectations for the hospital as dozens of nurses strike next week.
Questions remain around the number of potential replacement nurses that will be available during the two-day strike planned for next week.
In response, RGH has stated that it has contracted a nationally recognized agency to provide temporary replacement nurses who have been trained in the hospital’s systems and protocols.
