Wayne County’s biggest union gets contract secured ahead of schedule

Wayne County’s largest labor union, the Civil Service Employees Association General Unit, has ratified a new three-year contract several months before the expiration of the current agreement.

According to the Finger Lakes Times, officials confirmed that nearly 90% of the 550 represented employees voted in favor of the contract, which was approved by the Board of Supervisors last week.

Negotiations started nearly a year ahead of schedule with the aim of ratification by this summer, a goal that has now been met.

The new contract includes a pay increase of 1% from the existing contract, which expires in December 2023, a signing bonus, and a further 4% pay increase each year from 2024 to 2026. Additional provisions include weekend premium pay, as well as higher pay grades for nursing home and 911 Center staff.
