Boeheim’s Army cruises past Team Gibson after slow start in TBT

Boeheim’s Army (No. 2 seed) opened The Basketball Tournament with a 99-83 victory over Team Gibson (No. 7 seed) on Monday night at The War Memorial in downtown Syracuse. 

Boeheim’s Army, who scored their most points in a game since 2017, struggled to find offense early on and fell behind 13-2 before storming back to tie the game at 18. The offense picked up significantly over the final three quarters, outscoring Team Gibson 81-65 despite going scoreless for over three minutes in the final quarter.

Grant Riller and Andrew White III led the way with 20 points apiece. Dwight Buycks Jr. netted 15 points, including the game-winning layup. Rakeem Christmas poured in 11 points, while BJ Johnson added nine.
