Auburn Community Hospital and 1199 SEIU, United Healthcare Workers East, the union representing nurses at the hospital and Finger Lakes Center for Living, announced a new three-year labor agreement on July 20, 2023, following a ratification vote by the nurses.
The agreement includes significant wage increases aimed at adjusting to market conditions, a move that both parties believe will help attract and recruit nurses at the 99-bed hospital. Scott Berlucchi, President and CEO of Auburn Community Hospital, highlighted the hospital’s history of union collaboration and praised the unwavering dedication of the nurses to the patients and the community.
The agreement covers roughly 233 employees out of the hospital’s 1,200-strong workforce, making it the largest employer in Cayuga County. Brittany Alnutt, RN, and member of the negotiating committee, acknowledged the diligent efforts of the RNs and LPNs at Auburn Community Hospital in arriving at an agreement that values the loyalty and dedication they bring to quality patient care. Beyond the hospital, the Auburn Community Hospital system includes an 80-bed Five Star Long Term Care and Rehabilitation Center, three Urgent Care Centers, and various Primary Care and Specialty Care Services.
