The collaborative nursing program between Tompkins Cortland Community College and Guthrie Cortland Medical Center has expanded, seeking to address the growing need for nursing care.
Initiated in 2019, just prior to the pandemic, the program provides hands-on training to students, and now offers classes during evenings and weekends to accommodate a wider range of aspiring nurses.
The program’s success has been significant, graduating nearly 40 nurses in the span of three years.
The institutions plan to continue this upward trajectory with the program’s expansion, aiming to graduate two new cohorts in December to help fill year-round nursing positions.
