The Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation has designated Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital as a Level 1 Trauma Center, the highest level of trauma care available.
This rating reflects an institution’s capacity to provide comprehensive medical care for the most severely injured patients.
This elevation distinguishes Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital as the only accredited Level 1 trauma center in the Guthrie Clinic’s 12-county service area, enabling it to serve as a model for other rural trauma centers.
The hospital’s Senior Director of Trauma Services, Lisa LaRock, emphasized the significance of the designation, noting it highlights their role in conducting research on rural trauma, which includes unique scenarios such as farming and motor vehicle accidents common in rural settings.
For more information about the hospital and trauma levels, visits to the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation and Guthrie websites are suggested.
