New York State cracks down on flavored vape sales

Three years after New York enacted a ban on flavored vape products, considered a health hazard for young people, the state is battling distributors who are openly defying the law.

This month, in an effort to halt these illicit activities, New York City Mayor Eric Adams initiated a lawsuit against four vape distributors alleged to be illegally selling the prohibited products to minors.

The legal move was lauded by supporters as an approach that other states could replicate to address the issue and protect children from counterfeit vape products.

Advocates also emphasized the detrimental impact of these illegal sales on small, law-abiding businesses.

As the state works to regulate the sale of unlicensed marijuana, officials highlighted the importance of adequate funding and willpower in addressing the issues surrounding flavored vape products.
