A two-vehicle collision caused a temporary shutdown of a section of Route 14 between Nutt and Travis Road in the town of Torrey.
The incident, which occurred at the Anthony Road intersection, led to serious injuries for two individuals and traffic disruption for about an hour.
The investigation found that Thomas Anderson of Elma, New York, failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, causing his vehicle to collide with a southbound car driven by Elizabeth Worthington from Red Lion, Pennsylvania.
Anderson’s passenger, Mary O’Neil, 67, also from Elma, and Worthington sustained leg, chest, and face injuries in the crash.
They were subsequently transported to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for treatment. The Yates County Sheriff’s Office received assistance at the accident scene from the Penn Yan Ambulance, Medica 62, the Dresden Fire Department, and the Yates County Office of Emergency Management. Anderson was ticketed for failure to yield.
