Shannon Kelley to become assistant principal at Geneva Middle School

The Geneva City School District announced the appointment of Shannon Kelley, a former English teacher and current administrative intern, as the permanent Assistant Principal of Geneva Middle School. Kelley, who taught English at the school from 2014 to 2022 before transitioning to the administrative intern role in July 2022, has been with the district for nearly a decade. Superintendent Bo Wright highlighted Kelley’s proven leadership and her invaluable contribution to the middle school’s administration in his announcement.

Shannon Kelley expressed her gratitude to the Geneva community for their support, describing Geneva Middle School (GMS) as a family. Kelley stated she feels “honored to continue to serve our community alongside this passionate and skilled team of educators.” She will join Principal Matt Heath and Assistant Principal Nicole Campbell to lead the middle school.

In addition to her new role, Kelley brings in an impressive array of experience and qualifications. She has previously served the U.S. Army in various capacities, including as a company first sergeant, a civil affairs team leader, and an army instructor and course manager. Kelley holds an associate’s degree in liberal arts and sciences, a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in education with a focus on students with disabilities, and is currently completing a Certificate of Advanced Studies as a building and district leader.
