A fatal accident occurred during Friday’s rush hour on Route 13, leaving a pedestrian dead and prompting local authorities to request public assistance for further information.

The pedestrian was identified as 47-year-old Rahman Nasiri. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues, according to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release, law enforcement agencies responded to a call at around 5 p.m., concerning a vehicle off the northbound lane between North Triphammer Road and Warren Road. On arrival, officers found the car in a ditch with front-end damage. The driver, a woman, allegedly remained uncooperative with police and refused to exit the vehicle.

The scene investigation revealed a male pedestrian, now identified as Nasiri, who is believed to have been hit by the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to the sustained injuries. Olin urged anyone with information or those who might have seen Nasiri walking along Route 13 before the incident to contact the sheriff’s office.
