A residential fire was promptly contained by local firefighters at 16 Wheeler Street in Auburn, as reported by the Fire Department.
Smoke was seen emanating from a window of the house at 4:51 p.m., with the first responding units reporting visible fire through a rear window on the first floor.
Thanks to the immediate intervention, the fire was controlled within a mere 10 minutes, followed by extensive overhaul efforts.

The fire damage was restricted to the unit of origin, preventing the spread to the adjoining unit. The rapid response effectively minimized the extent of the fire, yet three residents – a woman and two children – were displaced as a result. The Red Cross is currently providing assistance to the affected individuals. There were no injuries reported at the scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Auburn Fire Department was assisted on the scene by several local entities including the Auburn Police Department, Auburn City Ambulance, Cayuga County 911 Dispatch, Auburn City Code Enforcement, NYSEG, and the Red Cross.
