Seneca County’s 14 communities are poised to gain financial support following a Board of Supervisors resolution to share sales-tax revenue.
The decision was approved on Tuesday after six months of extensive debate, amendments, and revisions.
The resolution, passed by a weighted vote of 414-286, establishes the sharing of any sales tax beyond the county budget, up to a maximum of 10% of the previous year’s sales-tax revenue.
The county will, however, retain the first $750,000 of revenue exceeding the budgeted amount.
