Geneva General Hospital’s adherence to these guidelines aims to minimize the long-term effects of a stroke and potentially prevent death. “Get With The Guidelines makes it easier for our teams to put proven knowledge and guidelines to work on a daily basis, which studies show can help patients recover better,” commented Ardelle Bigos, MSN, RN, CMSRN,NE-BC, the Chief Nursing Officer at Geneva General Hospital.
In addition to the Gold Plus award, Geneva General Hospital received two other honors: the AHA’s Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite award, recognizing prompt treatment with the clot-busting drug alteplase; and the Target: Type 2 Honor Roll award for evidence-based care for Type 2 diabetes patients hospitalized due to stroke. The hospital is also recognized as a Joint Commission accredited Primary Stroke Center and a New York State designated Stroke Center, further showcasing their commitment to high standard stroke care.
