The Auburn City Council has authorized an agreement with Thaler Reilly Wilson Architecture & Preservation for the major expansion of Auburn City Courts.
The resolution approves a contract, not exceeding $185,000, with the Albany-based firm to provide consulting services for the project. The city government, tasked by the New York State Office of Court Administration, plans to add a second courtroom and other facilities, capitalizing on the opportunity presented by the recent vacating of a portion of the Historic Old Post Office building by the Cayuga County’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.
In January 2023, a proposal was presented to the Cayuga County Legislature to repurpose the vacated 2,500 square feet of office space in the historic building.
Following this, a request for proposals was issued in early May, inviting firms to provide project programming, design, construction documents, bidding, construction administration, and inspection services. Out of the four firms that responded, Thaler Reilly Wilson was selected after a thorough review process.
