Finger Lakes Land Trust acquires 11 acres of Etna Nature Preserve

The Finger Lakes Land Trust (FLLT) announced on Monday that the Etna Nature Preserve in the Town of Dryden is set to expand with the acquisition of an 11-acre parcel of land along Fall Creek. The newly acquired floodplain property, featuring over 3,100 feet of creek front, extends the total size of the nature preserve to 35 acres.

The Etna Nature Preserve, located in the Hamlet of Etna on Lower Creek Road, is known for its trail weaving through wetlands and woodlands, along a tributary stream. The preserve, as advertised by the FLLT, is an ideal locale for birdwatching enthusiasts. With the latest acquisition, the variety of wildlife and landscape available to visitors will likely expand.

The expansion of the Etna Nature Preserve has been made possible due to support from the estate of Margaret Bald, along with funds from the FLLT’s Finger Lakes Forever campaign. The campaign has been instrumental in furthering the organization’s conservation objectives in the region.
