The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a Sodus man was struck by a CSX Train in the town of Arcadia.
According to a news release, deputies responded to the report of a man being struck by a passing train near the intersection of State Route 88 and Welcher Road.
Deputies identified the person struck as John Hayslett, of Sodus.
Investigation determined that Hayslett laid down next to the rail road tracks, but moved to try and avoid being struck.
EMS provided first aid until he was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. The injuries are described as non-life threatening.
Deputies were assisted by CSX Police, WAyne County ALS, and Newark Ambulance.
The investigation is still active.
