Dansville’s cherished hot air balloon festival is facing turmoil, as it sees its third cancellation announcement for the scheduled Sept. 1-3 event at Dansville Municipal Airport.

Initially cancelled due to a shortage of volunteers for the traditional New York State Festival of Balloons, the event appeared to find salvation with a newly established partnership with national balloon festival organization, Hot Air Balloon Management.
Plans included three days of hot air balloon flights, a laser show, tethered rides, games, and live music.
However, the renewed Dansville Festival of Balloons is now listed as “cancelled” again on the ticket agency, freshtix.com.
Officials say insufficient balloonist participation and a lack of vendors were cited as the reasons for the cancellation by Hot Air Balloon Management. Despite the latest setback, officials remains open to future collaboration with the company, praising the “solid relationship” that had been established.
