Hobart student among those injured during missile attack in Ukraine

A 24-year-old Hobart College student, Cristiano Zeledon, has been severely injured during a missile assault at a pizza restaurant in Kramatorsk, Ukraine.

The attack resulted in over a dozen fatalities and injured approximately 60 people. Zeledon, who is in Ukraine for a summer volunteer humanitarian mission, was at the restaurant when the Russian missile struck. His family reveals that he has suffered brain trauma and severe leg burns.

Exact details of his condition have not been released, but family said he has a long recovery ahead.

Zeledon’s family, originating from the village of Waddington in St. Lawrence County, was alerted about his condition following the incident.

The traumatic images of Zeledon’s injuries have since circulated globally, bringing further distress to his family.

Zeledon, who served in the Marines before joining Hobart to study pre-law, has aspirations of attending law school at Cornell and potentially re-enlisting in the Marines.
