The bicyclist was traveling east-to-west and abruptly entered a crosswalk. Following the collision, the operator of the truck, who was not identified by police, stopped and cooperated with authorities.

Members of the Canandaigua Police Department, Canandaigua Emergency Squad, and Canandaigua Fire Department responded to the scene.

The 16-year-old was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital due to a possible head injury. Police say the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet.

CPD is encouraging all bicyclists to wear a helmet while riding. Bicyclists are also encouraged to walk bikes across the street even when in a crosswalk.
