Across the United States, overcrowding in animal shelters is a significant issue, with the Humane Society of the United States reporting an average euthanization of a shelter animal every thirteen seconds and 2.7 million animals euthanized annually.

Many potential adopters hesitate to take on the additional financial responsibilities that come with pet ownership, such as food and veterinary costs, especially in times of economic difficulty.

To combat this, the Schuyler County Humane Society is partnering with Bissell for the “Empty the Shelters” event.

Approved adoption application, all pet adoption fees will be fifty dollars. The society encourages donations and invites those interested in adoption or further information to visit their website.
