Geneva has new director of planning and economic development

David West, currently the town planner for Danby, Tompkins County, will assume the position of Director of Planning and Economic Development for the city of Geneva starting July 31, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

The appointment comes after an extensive search involving numerous stakeholders from the community.

City officials applauded West’s previous work in zoning reform and community engagement, skills which are particularly pertinent as Geneva is currently involved in a similar effort.

West has expressed excitement about his new role and the city itself, praising its urban form and its potential for both small businesses and larger corporate entities.

West will be paid $82,000 per year.
