Troopers: Tompkins trio kidnapped person at gunpoint, now they face felony charges

State police have arrested three Tompkins County residents following an abduction in the Southern Tier.


Joseph M. Howell, age 37; David C. Maycumber, age 41; and Michael P. Inman, age 46, all of Newfield were arrested for first-degree robbery and second-degree kidnapping.

The Class B felonies follow a months long investigation that began with an incident in February.

The trio are accused of forcibly kidnapping a victim at gunpoint while performing a robbery.

All three were arraigned in Chemung County and will answer the charges at a later date.
