On Wednesday, the tight-knit community of Manchester welcomed home a local hero in a way they never expected.
Air Force Staff Sgt. Kory Wade, tragically killed during a training mission 11 days prior, was honored by dozens of neighbors and friends who gathered along Route 21 for his final journey home.

As the procession drew near, signaled by the distant sirens, the crowd, composed of those who’ve known Kory from childhood to recent acquaintances, waved American flags and cheered in a heartfelt tribute.
The community’s tribute will continue on July 5, when friends and family are invited to gather at the Red Jacket High School auditorium from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in memory of Staff Sgt. Kory Wade. The community’s collective grief underscores the high regard and love they held for Kory, immortalizing him as a symbol of their shared values and strength.
