The Buffalo Sabres selected left winger, Zach Benson, of the Western Hockey League’s Winnipeg Ice, with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Benson, 18, tallied 98 points (36 goals, 62 assists) in 60 games with Winnipeg in 2022-23. His 98 points ranked third among all WHL skaters and second among all draft-eligible skaters.
One trait that stands out the most is his skill with the puck. He is an incredible playmaker and a perfect fit in Buffalo because of the number of elite goal-scorers that will surround him.
Benson was linemates with Sabres prospect Matt Savoie, who was drafted ninth overall last season.
