New York’s only brewery specializing in British-style “cask ale,” Seneca Lake Brewing Co., is expanding its operations with a second location at the Showboat Motel in Himrod.
Situated about 12 miles north of their original Rock Stream brewhouse and pub, this new venture broadens the brewery’s repertoire, offering not only their signature cask ales but also a selection of more conventional keg beers, wines, spirits, and ciders, many of which are produced in the Finger Lakes region.
The new food and beverage establishment will be named Dockside Grill, according to Bradley Gillett, owner of Seneca Lake Brewing.
An integral part of Dockside Grill’s plan is to educate patrons on the difference between cask ales and keg beers and to increase the visibility of cask ales.
The Showboat Motel, under new ownership since early 2023, aims to provide a unique experience. It offers 42 rooms and a lakeside cottage, beach campfire spaces, 30 boat slips, and 3 moorings on the lake.
