With the game tied at seven in the top of the ninth inning, Adam Ottavino served up a go-ahead solo home run to Nolan Arenado, and the Cardinals held on for an 8-7 victory.

Francisco Lindor crushed his 13th home run of the season, and Tommy Pham smacked his seventh. Brandon Nimmo drove in a pair of runs with a double, while Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canah added run-scoring hits.

Carlos Carrasco gave up six runs (five earned) over three innings.

The Mets will head to Houston to begin a three-game series with the Astros on Monday at 8:10 p.m.
