Canandaigua Airport to get $330,000 in federal funding for growth, modernization

Over $23 million in federal funds are slated for New York airports, including Canandaigua Airport and Syracuse Hancock International. The funding announcement was made by US Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, who emphasized the importance of these resources for regional economic growth and airport modernization.

Canandaigua Airport will receive over $330,000 for marking, lighting, and obstruction removal. Syracuse Hancock International, on the other hand, is set to benefit from more than $9 million directed towards the rehabilitation of taxiway lighting. The senators highlighted the crucial role of airports as gateways to the world and stressed the need for modern facilities to ensure safety, efficiency, and the facilitation of tourism.

Jason Terreri, Syracuse Regional Airport Authority Executive Director, expressed gratitude for the funding, emphasizing its importance for maintaining crucial airport infrastructure. Senators Gillibrand and Schumer pledged their continued advocacy for resources to revitalize New York’s airports, boosting local economic growth, and serving the millions of travelers using these facilities each year.
