Yankees blown out by Red Sox in series opener

The New York Yankees (39-31) opened a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox (35-35) on Friday night at Fenway Park and got completely embarrassed, falling 15-5.

Domingo German gave up a season-high seven runs and did not record an out in the third.

Anthony Rizzo drove in three of the five runs, including a two-run double. Josh Donaldson hit his sixth home run of the season, while Billy McKinney added a run-scoring single.

Matt Crook made his Major League debut and allowed five runs, including a grand slam. Albert Abreu, Nick Ramirez, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa combined to get the rest of the outs.

The Yankees will try to snap a two-game skid on Saturday at 7:10 p.m., weather permitting. Clarke Schmidt will take the ball.
