Emergency crews were dispatched to a hazardous spill on the New York State Thruway in the town of Tyre on Tuesday.
Around 11:20 a.m., a tractor trailer lost its fuel tank, resulting in a spill of approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel.
The fuel tank, still attached to the truck, had been dragged along the road causing significant wear and creating a hole. Despite an active leak on arrival, the hole’s size caused the fuel tank to lose all its contents swiftly.

First responders from Clyde arrived on the scene, working on containment and cleaning up the spill area.
They also assisted in reattaching the fuel tank to the tractor for removal from the thruway. The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) was notified and commissioned a contractor for further clean-up. All Clyde units were back in service, and the New York State Police were also thanked for their assistance during the incident.
